Philosophy
Bradford-Net.com is designed to be a functional web-site with a simple interface style which lends itself towards low-bandwidth mobile devices, as well as desktop broadband-based connections.
We have extensive experience in Windows application development, having worked on commercial grade software which is used around the world. Because of the many years we have spent in Windows development, we have become great believers in non-proprietory open source technologies and try to use them wherever possible instead.
Technologies
Bradford-Net.com was developed with the open-source MySQL database. We use the PHP scripting language to interface with our database and generate our web-pages. Although open-source site-building tools are available, sometimes to produce tightly integrated systems which meet exacting specifications, there's no substitute for doing it yourself - our content management system, search engine and associated technology are written entirely in-house.
Our site runs on RedHat Linux.
We typically develop and test for operability with Firefox, Opera, and Internet Explorer browsers.
Standards
We aim to comply with internationally recognised web development and design standards. Where possible, all pages on Bradford-Net.com have been externally validated as meeting HTML 4.01, CSS compliance, and disability access standards.
